I am not sure what the "recommended" method is, but what I do is
setup a "Bank" account that holds the cash for each investment
account that I have. All my security transactions involve a transfer
from this account (BuyXfr, SellXfr, DivXfr, etx). This allows me to
record interest for the cash the same way I do for bank accounts,
record check numbers, etc.
If you download your transactions directly into Moneydance, this
approach might not work for you.
