Who said anything about rm? I said "wipe" that is my own routine that
overwrites multiple times with different pattens and then deletes. It
does not have switches so does not have the problem. :-)
However, the wipes are specific per file so the problem did not occur.
What *did* happen was that tar barfed on the first file which happened
to be the - one so passed nothing to pgp and the script then deleted
the files it knew about which of course were not in the tar file. My
fault, at my age I really ought to check return codes, but I suspect
that because of the pipe I would be seeing the return from pgp not tar
and would not have caught it anyway.
