Problem: Money Dance shows empty or blank windows sometimes when running on
Linux with enhanced visual effects (Compiz or formerly Beryl).
Details: this is a known Sun Java bug.

<--- open bug, in progress
Potential workarounds:
----------------------------------
1. turn off Compiz (enhanced visual effects )
or, with Compiz enabled:
2. close and reopen the empty window. Usually it will redraw correctly after
a couple attempts
3. make the window *very, very* large. If you make it large enough, you will
usually see at least some of the content that is supposed to be in the
window!
4. If you have a new version of Linux (such as Ubuntu 8.04) you can try
using Metacity WM instead of Compiz as described here:

I have been experimenting with Compiz settings (using CCSM - CompizConfig
Settings Manager, which is an optional component). Under general options,
Display Settings tab, there is an option for Refresh Rate. I changed it from
50 (default) to 200 and, after a very short test, this seems to have
possibly reduced, but not eliminated, the empty windows.
Because the problem is intermittent (and therefore possibly a matter of
timings), maybe some other settings changes will further reduce or eliminate
it.
If anyone else gains further insights, please reply. We might also want to
post at the Sun bug report link listed above (and the MD forum).
