Have you looked at the Archive functionality available in Moneydance?
File --> Archive
The help file explains the options.

Is there a way to split out older transactions in a Moneydance database
into an "archive" file, to keep the file size of the current database
from growing forever? I'm not to the point I'm needing it yet but I
have about 3.5 years of transactions and am wondering if there's
a way to manage it so that only that last 2 years of data are in the
main file. I wouldn't want to completely lose access to the older
data, though.....
