I have it on my to-do list to update the inter-currency transaction  
editing so that you can enter two amounts (one for each currency)  
rather than one amount and one exchange rate.  However, in the  
meantime you can do the following trick:
1) Enter the amount of the transaction
2) In the rate field enter <currency1 amount>/<currency2 amount> (or  
vice versa) in order to get the exchange rate exactly right.
