[moneydance] Should I be root or user to install preview version 609?

I have forgotten exactly how to upgrade Moneydance for my Linux Kubuntu 
system.

The main question is do I install as root or user?

My current Moneydance is version 583 and I wish to upgrade to the 
preview 609 version.

The file downloaded is moneydance_linux_x86wj.sh which I hope is version 
609.  I used the 'wj' version in the hopes that Java printing will work.

I've done this before but have forgotten whether I was root or user.
