[moneydance] Watching securities in MD?

While MD isn't really designed to do this, I was wondering if someone has
a way to basically watch/monitor stocks/funds using MD prior to actually
buying one of them.. I can load a security in but find no easy way to
graph the data over time w/o effectively telling MD I bought it.. Is there
a way to do this w/o buying a security and putting a transaction in place
for it?  I suppose I could create a dummy account and say I bought 1 share
or similar..
