In their present form the tags are useful for  projects. For instance 
when doing a building operation to your house. This will attract all 
sorts of expenditure which you want to enter in there proper accounts 
but the tags will allow you to keep track of them in one report.
You can also use them to keep a report of all the expenses related to a 
specific holiday (vacation you call it, I think).
So life is not so bad after all. The great advantage of Moneydance is in 
fact that it often gets adapted  in accordance with our wishes. Most 
programs you have to take as they are.
