Wait, you might not need to install Java. It should be part of the  
system.

The comment you made that concerns me is "trial version has no menu  
bar" which as far as I know is not true. The trial version is fully  
featured. Since you said you are new to Apple, perhaps you don't know  
that on a Mac, most windows don't have tool bars on the window itself.  
Instead, the menu bar is at the top of the screen. You should see an  
Apple symbol on the top left of your screen, followed by "Moneydance"  
when you're in the Moneydance application, and the other menus to the  
right of that. Look under the Help menu and you should see "Register  
Moneydance".
