[moneydance] Error importing OFX files

Hello all,

I'm new to this list, although I discovered Moneydance around 2003. I
hadn't been using it during the last couple of years but I'm triying
to do it again, so recently I bought an upgrade to Moneydance 2008.

However, I'm having problems importing an OFX file from my bank
(Caixa Galicia, in Spain) and (what bothers me more) it's getting
difficult to get support, so I'm sending the problem to the list,
after trying the support mail and the forums with no luck. I hope
that someone here has had similar experiences and can offer any guiding.

When I download the OFX file and import it, everything works OK: All
pending transactions appear in the lower pane and I can accept them
without problem.

However, when I try to save the main MoneyDance file, an error
occurs, with the message:

"Error saving file: java.io.UTFDataFormatException: encoded string
too long: 65544 bytes"

This error happens everytime I try to save the file, once I have
imported the OFX data (but not before). It doesn't matter how many
transactions I have accepted (even if I don't accept anyone, it still
fails).

As you can imagine, this is a very serious problem, that prevents any
further use of the software... :-(

I'm running Mac OS X 10.4.11, with Java 1.5.0_16 and Moneydance
2008r2 (617) in a PowerBook G4. I have also tried the last preview
version (2008r3 - 622) with no luck.

I don't feel quite confortable sending the OFX file to an open
mailing list (I already sent it in the support mail) but if someone
feels that it can be of any help, please let me know.

Thanks in advance and best regards

Josep
