I just recently purchased Moneydance 2008 for Mac. I'm having a terrible
time importing my MoneyPlus (most recent version of MS Money) files. I end
up with either my checking account balance in the red or the balance correct
but with other accounts that are off. Some of those accounts were closed
accounts in Money so I don't even know how they got imported. I didn't
choose them when I imported my Money files.
I followed instructions to use strict .qif on each account I was importing.
I bought Moneydance over the other Mac software because I thought once I get
it set up, I can use it with any platform. I like that feature. But I'm
tearing my hair out over this problem.
By the way, when I tried deleting those accounts that shouldn't be there, it
naturally adjusted the balance in my checking account, so then it's off. How
do I fix these problems? I need to get things set up correctly or I'll
always be off. I'm new to double entry accounting so I've no clue how to fix
this problem. I understand the concept of double entry accounting, I think.
I'm just not sure how to correct the initial setup error.
I thought about just starting all over but it won't let me delete the root
account. I'm totally clueless as how to proceed. I'm already behind a bank
statement's worth of information. And will be getting another one soon.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.
