[moneydance] Stale checks not on reconcile list

I have noticed that old check that have not been marked 'cleared' by 
reconciliation do not appear on the list of uncleared checks.

Is this normal?  If so, what is the time limit?
Is there any way to list _all_ unreconciled checks, no matter how old?

In one case, a check from 2007 was suddenly presented and the bank 
accepted it, causing confusion.
