[moneydance] printer setting

I have an issue with the printer settings for printing checks.  In the os, Mepis, I have the printer set for letter size paper and everything works (office etc.) however when I print from Moneydance the setting is for A4 paper size.  If I change the setting to letter everything is fine the problem is if I forget to make the change -- well then the checks print all in wrong format (check size being in letter format).  How can I make the change from A4 to letter and get it to be saved as the default size???
