[moneydance] Exporting and Importing MD Data File and Check number's always at one again

The best way to export and import is Moneydance XML. After exporting, you
can then copy the XML to a backup location, then edit the XML in a text
editor to fix stuff up. However, the XML is probably quite large so you need
to know specifically what you are fixing, and then use text search tools to
find the spot. For example, when I imported from Quicken a couple categories
were mistakenly Income instead of Expense. So I searched in the XML for the
name of those categories, found the correct entry and changed the type.

In your specific case, I don't exactly know what you'd be looking for with
regards to the check number problem.

After editing, then attempt to import the edited file. Again, please make a
backup before editing the XML.

Good luck!

Subject: [moneydance] Exporting and Importing MD Data File and Check
number's always at one again

Hello Oh Helpful One¹s,

My check number auto staying at one for auto entry again, I do not know
why...

I fixed the problem last time by exporting the data file somehow and then
starting over with a new account and re-importing. I¹m not sure now how I
did it as I tried so many things to fix the problem. Yes, taking notes would
have been a good idea.

So, my question:

Moneydance Exports in: QIF, Tab-delimited and Moneydance XML

Moneydance Imports in: QIF, OFX and OFC

What is the best way to export my data file and then start over importing
the same exported file?

I¹ve tried starting over using a backup data file as well as the QIF export
and import scenario. The auto check advance remained broken both times.

I thought the check number problem was due to a corrupted data file, now
I¹m not sure...

Thanks in advance for your comments and replies.

Rick
